As time passes, the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. In this case, it is crucial that the new handles are in line with the dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever handle is a modern door brompton carry handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This style of handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle including Avocet, ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made from robust materials, and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings, so they can be easily fitted to existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to accommodate any user. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles. This allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and the performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can be cut to fit the widest range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, in which the cylinder is further back. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are usually employed on UPVC double glazing door handles-glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with the spindle and screws, allowing them to be installed on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixation centres of 211mm permit a larger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing a damaged or old multi-point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which eliminate the problem of door handles that move out of horizontal position when not in use.

It is important to match up the PZ dimensions for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect to match the right handles.

Once you have decided on the correct size of PZ, you will need to make sure that the lever and push pads are designed to match the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles you require for your door. They are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we offer are spring-loaded. This means they will return to a horizontal position when not in use instead of hanging, and possibly being stuck in the frame. This stops draughts from entering the property. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed that allows you to put them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually used on upvc door locks and handles doors, but they can be utilized on other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned with those in the lock body and allowing them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is vitally important; this is dependent on how your doors and handle are utilized. For instance, doors that are external require a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Some cylinders have extra features that increase security, for instance, anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder must be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to the other end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however if this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon might be susceptible to attacks like lock snapping, so it is essential to make sure it's not too long.

Most modern cylinders are made with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. They are designed to decrease attack chances by forcing the cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This can help stop the attack and keep your doors safe.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than opening a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. There was a time when handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them, and as a result, they tend to droop or drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This component is the best way to address this issue. It also helps prevent your door from getting stuck in the open or closed position, as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes are specially made for use with multipoint locks sprung but they won't work with non-sprung multipoint window handles. You will need to have a custom hole cut into your backplate to allow these to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes within the backplate of the door handle for various kinds of uPVC doors. They are supplied in one unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
