UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors are worn out over time and will need to be replaced. In this case, it is essential that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

Inline Lever/Lever

The door handles of uPVC/Composite are made of robust materials and are suitable for multi-point lock doors which require a robust design. The handles are inline and operate off the same spindle and screw fixings, so they can be easily incorporated into new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.

The spring lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance-tested to 200,000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames in which the cylinder is further back. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors that have a latch that can be activated with the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles on doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles inline or offset. They are typically used on UPVC double glazing door handles-glazed doors and are available in a variety of variations and finishes.

The handles have been tested to at least 200,000 cycles and are available in several finishes, including White and Silver, as well as Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, thereby giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for its intended use.

All of the UPVC handle lever pad styles come with a spindle and screws which allow them to be put on any new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a wider size handle that is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which eliminate the problem of door handles that move out of horizontal position when not in use.

When selecting a replacement UPVC handle and spindle, it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ on both the multipoint lock and the uPVC door. This measurement is often known as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the appropriate handles and hinges.

When you have the right PZ size, you'll have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. These are typically round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we offer are sprung. This means they return to a horizontal position when not in use, rather than hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the property. The majority of UPVC lever pad changing window handles are available in left and right handed models that allow them to be installed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. The cylinder lock is operated with a key that unlocks the cylinder case. This reveals pins that can be aligned with those in the lock, allowing them to rotate the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the use that your doors and handles will receive. Doors that are external, for instance should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using the standard cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features which can enhance security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to each end of the cylinder including the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however in the event that this is not possible, you may take it off to measure. It is important to ensure that there is no extension of the cylinder beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to decrease the risk of attack by causing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This can help stop the attack and ensure your doors are secure.

There are also cylinders that are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is faster and more straightforward than gaining access through multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located in the base of your door handle's backplate, providing a spring solution to return the multipoint lock handles back to their normal position after using. The handles had no spring and would droop when the locking mechanism was disengaged. This simple feature is among the best methods to correct this issue and is an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in either closed or open position, as they aren't always easy to manually close by hand.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They will not fit handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a more detailed diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are available as one unit. They have a square-cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
