Item upgrades allow players to raise the item level of weapons and armor that are equippable. This improves the stats and sometimes adds buffs or rerolls to an attach.

It is important to remember that while you can upgrade magic and other common equipment, it is generally not worth the cost. Rare and Unique equipment will quickly surpass modernized magic and common equipment.

Cost

When a player upgrades an item, they must spend Gold to upgrade the item. The cost to upgrade an item varies based on the item's current level and the type of upgrade. Upgrades to weapons are typically less expensive than upgrades to armor since weapons have less requirements. The amount of Gold required increases as an item is upgraded.

A newly upgraded item will also come with increased stats, which could boost its performance in many ways. This could include boosting its attack power or critical strike chance. In addition an upgraded item upgrading could be able to give additional buffs to the unit it is equipped with. These upgrades are able to be used for a number of reasons for example, to increase the overall strength of a particular or group unit. They also can be a significant influence on gameplay.

Items can be upgraded at any NPC that is an upgrader in the game. Generally, these NPCs are located in capital cities or major questing locations. Players can also locate item upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses and by talking to the NPCs in their garrisons of their faction.

The upgrade system for items in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the level of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is largely identical to the process of reforging gear in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor, but instead of using the appropriate currency, players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Requirements

Some upgraded items are only able to be rerolled only if the original item was a Unique Epic, Rare or Rare. Additionally, exceptional items can be rerolled but the original stats are replaced with a flat-rate bonus. This means that rerolling an item that is Rare item will result in a Normal version of the same type, whereas rerolling an Epic item upgrader will result in an Elite version of the same type.

Time
