Our test participant Claire was impressed by the clean packaging, easy-to-open and deemed it to be one of the fastest and easiest pieces of baby gear to put together. She took it to explore some rough terrain and was very pleased with its performance.

Seats

The majority of 3 wheel tandem stroller wheel double buggies start as single pushchairs. However, some can be modified to accept a second seat with adapters. Certain models let you add an additional board for older kids who are ready to walk, but still require assistance.

Take a look at the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It is easy to maneuver and has an enormous basket that has plenty of storage. It can hold twins from birth and will accommodate two car seats or seats and a carrycot. However, the seats have to be oriented forward and there's not enough space to store a bag of groceries underneath, so you'll need a sidepack to do that.

If you're looking to go off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side by side model with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available. It's easier to maneuver through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb over and over kerbs. The adjustable handlebar has a handbrake for added safety and security.

The UPPAbaby vista 2 double is another lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats come with multi-position recline and UPF 50+ sunshades and the canopy can be adjusted to keep the sun out of your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can even be transformed into a triple using the addition of UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack board for older and mobile kids.

The iCandy Orange double buggies are one of the most popular on the market. This is due to their outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain model with a soft suspension, which can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating options and a built-in board for older children who prefer walking, and a "cinema mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.

Alternatively, the phil&teds dot is a great single buggy that is available from day one that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3 wheel buggy!) in multiple configurations. This is particularly helpful if you have an infant in a car seat, because the frame can be equipped with a wedgie for optimum lying flat, or car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a double 3 Wheel stroller and car Seat wheel buggy will determine how easy your child/children and you can push it. A smooth ride is crucial as babies can feel every bump in the road, especially when it's in rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Some models also have front wheels that lock to assist with maneuvering and getting over obstacles such as curbs.

Some models use air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain adventure, but they could be susceptible to punctures, therefore, make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Some models have foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, but they may cause discomfort for your child if they decide to run.

MFM reviewer Kath took the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her infant and three years old son, and found it performed admirably on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over grass and bumpy pavements, cobbles and dirt tracks easily and was able to maneuver around corners and get up and down kerbs. Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can fold quite easily to store it. There are options that fold flat, stand up (as as if they were the shape of a pushchair) and also open to reveal a more umbrella-like folding that has the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels a buggy is equipped with, in general the more easy it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is particularly true if your wheels are larger than typical size. You will have more stability and it's less likely that you will need to flip or tip your child.

The iCandy Wave is a popular choice. It can be used with an infant car-seat from birth and then transformed into a double buggy side-by-side when your child is older. It's a light-feeling option, which makes it easy to push, and it comes with extra features like raincover and a bumper bar.

The phil&teds sports is a different option. It is future-proof since it is brilliant as a buggy, and can be modified to take two (or three!) in its small footprint. It is a clever 3 wheeler pushchairs-wheel design with an sling seat that provides greater maneuverability, stability and kerb pop.

If you're looking to run with your children, this is the best double buggies for jogging as it has a lockable front wheel that will help you remain in control when you're on off-road or hilly tracks. It has a large undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and soft suspension for an enjoyable ride.

It's a light compact and compact option that is easy to fold with just one hand. It is perfect for travel. It's compatible with a wide range of infant car seats, and comes with an easy-to-pull-out undercarriage bag that can be used to store things to shop. It's not cheap however, it does have some notable features, like its one-click folding and many extras, like bumper bars or raincovers.

Storage
